The Brink of Genius: Emily Brinkley
'It's fun to stay at the CMYK' and it's even more fun to gaze adoringly at Emily Brinkley's awesome portraits, which we recently discovered on Instagram. She has created a winning style using detailed pencil drawing accuracy combined with solid blocks of acid hues. Lively and punchy, her illustrations are fashion-inspired - the above illustration being inspired by Orla Kiely's Spring/Summer 16 line.
The London based illustrator describes her own work as being 'heavily informed by a sense of nostalgia and retrospective thinking along with a quirky and feminine sensibility.'

Making Embroidery Cool: Danielle Clough
Clough was born and raised in South Africa, and her website describes her as a photographer-designer-j-embroiderer. (Google VJ - we had to...) Some of her most recent clients include Gucci, The African Innovation foundation and the United Nations. See more of her fabulously striking and original embroidery art here.

Designer of the Day: Kayla Newell
Recently found the artist Kayla Newell hails from Portland, Oregon. Her spontaneous brushstrokes in bright, acid pinks are interrupted by linear geometric patterns. The overall effect is a blissful combination of spontaneity, paint drips, expressive lines and colour combination perfection, which can only be created by someone with natural artistic flair. To view it is to feel as if you can see her mind in progress as she created each image. Bold and beautiful - we're definitely a fan!
